London 08/2015

Honestly I would of never thought I would go visit London. However, my fiancée best friend was in London and we decided to head over to visit to see what it was about.

I think the only reason why I never consider London was because our US dollar has been really weak compared to British Pounds. One important part of traveling is the ability to enjoy yourself without breaking your pockets.

London was actually pretty relaxing place to visit. The cab drivers are very friendly and the fact they still drive the London cabs makes it really retro. My favorite part was actually how easy it was to communicate with everyone and the ability to read the road signs! I mean everything is in English.

I highly recommend to bring a DSLR camera or a GoPro. I never thought I would take so many photo in one city and be in awe with all my photos. I highly recommend to take a photo of the London Tower Bridge at night and also to go up to the salesforce tower to get an awesome city view.

Like always my trip was only 2 nights and 2.5 days in London. It was really short but, honestly it was not cheap. Each meal cost me about 15-20 British pounds and that is almost a 30-40 USD meal. It adds up pretty quick.

My favorite meal was actually beer batter fish and chips with some local brew.

I stayed at Intercontineal Hotel Park Avenue. The hotel was very elegant and was filled with Middle East candy color Lamborghini and Rolls Royce.

I think the location of this hotel was actually really good because the huge Hyde Park was across the street. The Buckingham Palace and Keingston Park was a 15 minute walk only.

Big Ben and all its surrounding is packed with tourist. I didn’t even bother to get near the iconic Ferris Wheel around the Big Ben.

Overall, I believe the trip was better than expected. I flew from SFO to Heathrow via 1 stop in Vancouver with Air Canada. My flight was only $450.00 for one way.

Here some other random shots of London.

If your a Harry Potter fan like me, the train station is a must stop destination. He prepare to waste 30 minutes of your life standing in line for a photo.

Can’t forget the famous red phone booth!

The millennium bridge is not as pretty as I thought during the day. Maybe it was the cloudy sky?

Introduction

The past few years I have been traveling around the world between my ridiculous working week and my non existing PTO (paid time off).

As each month passes and the years goes by, it has been harder and harder for me to remember all those crazy and once in a life time experience from my past travels. Most of my travels are usually only 48 hours long or less. It is rare for me to stay in a country or city longer than that. The only reason I would have to stay in a country longer than that is because of work. I travel at minimal for work nowadays unlike couple years ago.

My personal favorite place to hide away from reality would be Santorini, Greece. However, going there is not easy or cheap so that never last long.

A lot of my family and friends always wonder how I travel so much without going broke. To be honest, there is a lot of tricks and a lot of way to get around that. I take full advantage of my credit card point system and live my life off my credit card only. I figure if I’m going to spend my money on my debt card I might as well collect some points while at it. Flights and hotels are tricky and I believe I found a way to get around expensive flights on more remote vacation area versus the high tourist attracted city. Overall, I will have to put dates for each post corresponding my past trips and it is not going to be in order.

I figured this will be a good away to remember my adventures and also help me relive some of those amazing time without having to spend real money to do it again. It is true though, a lot of experience is only a once in a life time and no matter how hard you try to replicate it to the tee it will never be the same.

Never be scared when you are lost because that is when the adventure comes out. The only thing I learned to worry about is if I have enough money for a taxi ride and where my hotel is located, otherwise I enjoy being lost in foreign soil.

I am a California native but, I was lucky to live in Hong Kong for couple of years when I was younger and worked in China for about a year. Overall, my addiction to travel allows me to keep working my insane hours.
